Woodsend Medical Centre and its branch surgeries at Wollaston and Bozeat provide patient care across two distinct geographic areas which are identified on this map. To enable this postcode checker service to function it is necessary to link the two practice areas with the blue line which runs between them on the map. There is no intention to infer that any address lying under the single blue line falls within either practice boundary. If you use this service but are in any doubt about whether your address falls within the practice boundaries please refer to the NHS: Find a GP checker

Temporary Services

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a Doctor but need to see one, you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP Practice for 14 days. After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local Practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with that Practice.

To register as a temporary patient simply contact the practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a Practice in the town or area where you are already registered.

Your Named GP

The 2015-2016 GP contract in England extends the requirement to provide a named accountable GP to all patients, rather than just those over 75. The contract remains ‘practice based’, so overall responsibility for patient care has not changed. The role of the named GP is to take responsibility for the co-ordination of all appropriate services and ensure they are delivered where required (based on the named GP’s clinical judgement) to each of their patients.

You do not have to see your named GP when you book an appointment; you can and should feel free to choose to see any GP or nurse in line with current arrangements Woodsend Medical Centre.

We will be informing patients of their named GP on an ad-hoc basis on contact with the practice, however, if you wish to have this information sooner please contact reception who will be happy to help. Patients over 75 will continue to receive a letter informing of their named GP.
